Yesterday, we had the most incredible day at The Sacred Gardener's "Forage and Feast: Spring" workshop right here in Golden Lake!! What a truly eye-opening and delicious experience.
We spent the morning with Steven, exploring the land and learning to identify and ethically harvest an abundance of spring's wild edible plants. It was amazing to connect with nature in such a hands-on way and discover the hidden treasures growing all around us.

Lunch was an absolute dream! Megan, the talented gourmet chef from The Sacred Gardener, crafted a magnificent spread of prepared foods from the very plants we had just met. The Dandelion, Feta and Toasted Walnut Salad with wild greens vinaigrette was a revelation, and the Hot n’ Sour Soup with burdock root and nettles was incredibly flavorful. We also savored Lamb’s Quarters Spanakopita and delicious spruce tip shortbread with Roasted Dandelion Root Coffee. Every dish was a testament to the gourmet potential of wild foods!

In the afternoon, Megan guided us through the preparation of our harvested plants and shared fascinating insights into how each component of our incredible lunch was prepared. It was truly inspiring to learn her techniques for transforming these wild ingredients into such exquisite meals and how to preserve them for year-round enjoyment.

This workshop was a perfect blend of education, connection, and culinary delight. It deeply resonated with our values at Greystone on Golden Lake, reminding us of the importance of living in harmony with the nature and appreciating the incredible gifts she offers. We left feeling inspired, nourished, and with a newfound appreciation for the wild bounty of our region.
Thank you, The Sacred Gardener, for such a profound and delicious learning experience! We can't wait to incorporate some of this incredible knowledge into our own offerings at Greystone.
