Calling all cyclists! Today, we are highlighting a scenic cycling route that is a perfect addition to your cottage stay. If a countryside route, along the Boncherre River, on low traffic roads sounds enticing to you, read on!

This ride is 20 kilometres, and traverses through quiet paved roads and gravel roads that you’re likely to have to yourself.  It’s the perfect combination of challenging and rewarding, with interesting scenery, varied terrain, and the ability to enjoy it without cars whizzing by you!

The ride starts by going up Tramore Road. This section of the ride has stunning rolling hills. This makes for some challenging uphills, but for every uphill, you get an exhilarating descent you can coast down! Enjoy the picturesque views of the Boncherre River you are riding alongside.

After this section of the bike ride, when you turn left to continue on Tramore road, the hills slow down, but the views do not! You cross over the most quaint one-lane bridge over the river, with views of Sicards Bay. Although it’s a great place to stop for a picture, make sure you’re mindful of the other traffic.

The next section takes you past a charming old church, on aptly named Whitechurch Road. Along this next portion, you pass by some farmers' fields and through forest lined roads, before turning onto a gravel road where you coast through the last part of the ride! You end right along the river again, before finally finishing right at the Greystone.

Whether you plan to bring your own bike or borrow one from us at the Greystone, it's offered complimentary with your stay. For those who love cycling, this is a wonderful way to spend a morning or afternoon while here on Golden Lake. Take a tip from the locals and follow this bike route!
